R.D. Olson Construction recently broke ground on what will be Hawaii’s first AC Hotels by Marriott on Maui, a hotel designed to appeal to couples and millennial travelers.
The 110-room four-story limited-service hotel is being built on three acres at the corner of Wailea Ike Drive and Wailea Ike Place, next door to Marriott’s Residence Inn Wailea Maui hotel, which was also built by California-based R.D. Olson. Honolulu-based AHL, formerly known as Architects Hawaii Ltd., is the architect on the project, which is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2020.
R.D. Olson Investments II LLC, an affiliate of the construction company, bought the land from an affiliate of Alexander & Baldwin Inc. for $3.6 million in 2017, according to public records. Earlier this year, it was turned over to Ike Place Hotels LLC, an affiliate of R.D. Olson Development.
