Inspired by the iconic exterior color of the hotel and a whimsically vibrant, furry sloth diary adorned with a metallic bow, our team was given a clear vision of our client’s design aspirations: “think pink – really pink!”
The concept was further developed to resonate with young families, catering to both Kama’aina and out-of-state visitors. This largely untapped target market presented an opportunity to win the hearts of a demographic that heavily values travel experiences. With knowledge of our intended audience and a hotel location situated perfectly to springboard into island adventure, the team crafted an “urban islander” look and feel to appeal to those seeking a sophisticated, chic vacation dwelling. Comfort was still top-of-mind with an air of easy-breezy island living.
New fixtures, furniture, and finishes modernize the guestrooms. Upgrades to the condominium-style rooms spanned the living area, bedrooms, and full kitchens.
Tropical, urban styling is infused throughout the 98 guestrooms and penthouse, along with a hint of playfulness. Look closely and you may spot the fuzzy pink sloth diary that inspired it all! Dark wood tones and live edge furniture contrast swaths of “Ilima Pink” accent walls. Fabrics and materials rich with Hawaiian patterns add visual interest and texture. Artwork and accessories are authentically place-based, immersing guests in the biophilic richness and diversity that is Hawai’i while also celebrating the urban handcrafting trend experiencing a renaissance in Honolulu.
