American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge provides lodging units to patients in active cancer treatment and the patient's care giver, free of charge. The facility has 20 residential guest units. The main feature on the ground level is the Healing Garden; it provides shaded outdoor seating, a water feature, and plant life for guests and their visiting families to enjoy. The guest rooms have private bathrooms, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and other amenities to make the guest's stay simple, but comfortable. The third floor houses the check in, a large residential kitchen with a walk-in pantry, living and dining areas, contemplation room, and a library.
The architectural design is fairly simple, yet the interiors are reflective of color palettes and textures meant to represent the Hawaiian Islands. Residents from neighbor islands can feel at home while undergoing treatment. Salient features include a Healing Garden and 20 private cancer units with room for a caregiver. The Hope Lodge serves a pressing need in our community, designed with thoughtful sensitivity to the requirements of cancer patients and their caregivers.
