Located at one of the most vibrant, bustling intersections in the heart of Waikīkī, the 2181 Kalākaua project represents a transformative approach to urban design. In close collaboration with Dior, our team crafted an architectural vernacular inspired by local culture to convey an authentic sense of place. In addition to leading the design of the retail space's core and shell, AHL consulted on the exterior facade renovation. AHL also navigated the Waikīkī Special District’s design guidelines and approval process. Newly implemented ADA-compliant streetscape improvements enhance access to the plaza for a more welcoming and equitable pedestrian experience. Dior oversaw the interior design and tenant improvements were led by Montalba Architects.
